Keanu Reeves is a Canadian actor known for roles in movies such as The Matrix, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and Speed. His career does not appear to be bound by a genre and he has done humor, science fiction, action, and horror movies.

Keanu Reeves was born in Beirut to Patricia and Samuel Reeves on September 2, 1964. When Reeves was 3 years old his father left the family but they remained in touch until Reeves was 6 years old. In 1991, Reeves starred in two films that became cult classics, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey and My Own Private Idaho. He also played the lead role in the action film Point Blank.

Reeves’s career reached new heights in 1999 with The Matrix. The Wachowskis’ cyberpunk classic saw Reeves play Neo, a computer programmer who is drawn into a rebellion against the machines that have enslaved humanity. The Matrix was a commercial and critical success, grossing $463 million worldwide and winning four Academy Awards.

Reeves reprised his role as Neo in two sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, which were released in 2003. He also starred in the sci-fi film Johnny Mnemonic (1995), the action thriller Speed (1994), and the horror film Constantine (2005).
